The south side was the highest point of the island. It came to a plateau right up on top, and then dropped off about seventy feet to a beach area that was only exposed at low tide. Northwest winter storms had carved a virtual cliff along the south shore. They knew from the map that the trail led to the high point of the island. All they had to do was find the trailhead. |
